Finished the assembly of 3 sets customized mud cleaner

DC Solid control finished the assembly of the 3 sets customized mud cleaner for domestic users at the end of 2017. The mud cleaners are used for drill water well in XinJiang zone of China.

Drill water well not need too large flow, so we choose mini DCS850-2 shale shake and 1 ea 8″ hydrocyclone to do this project. Smaller cones, typically 4″ in diameter known as desilters, remove finer silt sized solids, while the larger cones typically 10″ in diameter known as desanders removed the coarser sand sized particles.


Traditional mud cleaners use multiple 4 or 5cyclones, mounted over a vibrating screen, and are able to effectively process 400-600 GPM. The process capacity is limited by screen capacity and its ability to discard dry solids. With the introduction of linear motion vibrating screens, the capacity of the mud cleaner screen has been greatly increased. This, in turn, allows the use of additional hydrocyclones and higher, overall process capabilities.

The unique manifold design of DC Machinery minimizes the pressure drop across the hydrocyclones, thereby maximising solids removal and reducing the volume of mud discharged with the captured solids from the cone.

Standard hydrocyclone cone sizes available include 4”, 5”, 10”, and 12” and can be provided in arrangements of one to 20 cones.  To ensure optimum separation capability, the pressure differential through the hydrocyclone manifold can be controlled by the installation of isolation valves on each cone.

International standard Welding procedure of shale shaker

In order to prevent the innerstress is appeared from welding don’t allow weld screen box and any auxiliary parts.
We should adopt these steps when weld shale shaker.


1. Drilling 6mm hole in one end of flaw in order to prevent flaw extend.
2. Using round shovel spade groove along two sides of flaw.
3. Firstly preheat about 60℃ using 3mm diameter welding electrode to prevent any slag inclusions and bite meat condition.
4. Rubdown the protuberant electrode and weld the stiffening plate.
5. If id needs weld in screen surface bracket beam, all welding line should be parallel with beam.
6. When use alternating current weld the screen box should connect the ground to prevent current conveyance the bearing. Otherwise it is easy to led bearing damage.
7. The cutting surface will produce stress when flame cut, so the any addition holes all advised drill.
8. Installation requirements of mud shale shaker
9. When knit drilling fluid shaker screen and screen bracket is matched special vibration attenuation rubber strip. In order to make screen can reach the longest service life, the rubber strip should placed in among of screen and bracket.

We should ensure the equal interval between two sides of shale shaker screen box and screen hook when replace knit screen, we should fix the centre and compact steel flat at first, then tension the plate to keep the stress of screen surface is uniformity. It is one of the premature failure reason If the connecting is not good, the stress is not enough or uneven.

DC Shale shaker and mud cleaner tested before delivery

Operation principle of DC decanter centrifuge

The drilling mud decanter centrifuges can separate fine particles well,for separating 5~7μm particles in drilling mud,usually use medium speed decanter centrifuge,for less then 2μm,usually use high speed decanter centrifuges.


Even the finest solids can be separated in the decanter centrifuge if its sedimentation rate in the carrier liquid is sufficiently high. The sedimentation rate depends on the particle size, the particle shape, the density difference between solid and liquid, and the viscosity of the latter. In many cases, significant improvement is possible by conditioning, for example heating or addition of flocculants. Also important is the geometrical design and establishment of operating parameters.


Clarification of the liquid is effected in the case of solid bowl centrifuges primarily in the cylindrical section, dewatering of the solid matter taking place by means of filtration or compression of the solid cake in the conical section of the drum.

National Iranian Oil Co, Thailand’s PTTEP Agree To Oilfield Studies

BEIRUT, Dec 6 (Reuters) – National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP) signed a memorandum of understanding on Tuesday to carry out preliminary studies of three oil fields in Iran.

PTTEP, an oil and gas exploration and production company based in Thailand, will carry out preliminary studies over Changuleh, Balal and Dalpari oil fields in the south, Iran’s oil ministry’s news agency SHANA reported.

SHANA quoted Prapat Soponpongpipat, executive vice president of PTTEP as saying that he was hopeful it would lead to at least one contract for an oil field.

Repeat order of 22 sets mud agitator from Pakistan

DC solid control got another order of 22 sets mud agitator from our Pakistan old partner. The mud agitators mainly used for agitating drilling fluid for oilfield and located on the mud tanks.

DCJBQ Series mud agitators include an explosion-proof, “C” faced motor, reduction gearbox (helical-bevel gears for horizontal agitators or all helical gears for vertical units), impeller, and shaft with assembly bushings. Motors range from 5 to 30 HP and may be supplied in several power configurations.


DC Agitator features a rugged cast iron gearbox that houses helical bevel gearing. The gear sets are precisely ground to prevent all but the slightest amount of backlash in the gear sets. This feature promotes longer life by eliminating the high impact forces generated when the unit is energized at start-up.

Application Summary of Desander hydrocyclone

The hydrocyclone is an inverted conical shaped shell into which pressurised slurry is injected tangentially at the top/wide end. This induces the fluid to flow around the circumference of the shell and downwards to a small opening at its apex. Usually desander equipped 8in, 10in or 12in diameter hydrocyclone.

Normally 8in, 10in or 12in diameter. Flow rate 1 200 gpm.

The application of desanders will depend upon the type of mud in use. A desander:

1. shall be run continuously with unweighted water based muds to maintain low mud gradient, in top hole sections only
2. may be run sparingly with weighted water based mud
3. shall never be used with oil based mud.



The purpose of Desanders is:

1. to maintain sand content of mud below 0.5%.
2. to prevent overloading of desilters.
3. A feed rate of 300 – 400 gpm shall be used.

Desanders shall be balanced to produce a spray discharge using the procedure outlined above before use. Cones shall be stripped and cleaned after every period of continuous use. For optimum performance, the desander overflow should be routed to the desilter suction tank.

Note: Since, in practice, the cut point of most 12” cones may be of the order of 200 – 220 microns for an unweighted water based mud, utilisation of screens of finer than 80 mesh may negate the need for desanders.
